Construction Containers for Active Jobsites

Cooper Tank fabricates roll-off dumpsters, hook lift boxes, concrete washout containers, and specialty tanks for construction, demolition, and scrap recycling operations across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Every container is built to order at our Brooklyn facility. 80+ years in business. Whatever you need, we can build it. No distributors, no middlemen.

Containers for Construction Sites

The right container depends on material type, site access, and haul frequency. Every product below is manufactured at our Brooklyn and Waterbury facilities and available for delivery across the tri-state area.

Roll-Off Dumpsters

10 to 50 cubic yard. Construction debris, demolition waste, C&D material. Heavy duty and super heavy duty options for scrap metal and concrete.

What to Spec by Job Type

General Construction and Renovation

Mixed C&D debris, drywall, lumber, tile, and roofing materials. A 20 to 30-yard flat-front roll-off handles most residential and light commercial jobs. For sites with tight access or frequent swaps, hook lift containers reduce turnaround time. Standard 10 gauge construction on typical renovation debris; upgrade to heavy duty for anything with significant concrete or masonry.

Demolition Projects

Concrete, masonry, and structural steel generate dense loads that hit weight limits before volume limits. Specify heavy duty hook lift or roll-off containers in 7 gauge steel with reinforced seams. For contaminated materials, use watertight containers with hydrostatic-tested integrity. For large concrete pours with washout waste, pair a roll-off with a dedicated concrete washout container.

Infrastructure and Civil Work

Foundation work, tunnel, and pipeline jobs often require liquid handling. Frac tanks in 200, 300, or 500 barrel sizes handle construction dewatering, water transfer for pressure testing, and firewater staging. DOT-certified for over-the-road transport. Concrete washout containers satisfy EPA stormwater requirements on public works projects where compliance is contractually required.

Environmental Remediation and Brownfields

Contaminated soil, liquid waste, and hazardous materials require zero-leak containment. Watertight containers are hydrostatically tested before every shipment and DOT-certified where applicable. For liquid waste staging ahead of treatment, frac tanks with chemical-resistant epoxy lining handle high-salinity produced water, brine, and mild acids.

Scrap Recycling

Scrap yards and metal recyclers need containers built for the load. Cooper Tank fabricates heavy-duty 40 and 50 cubic yard containers in 7-gauge steel for high-density scrap, demolition metal, and shred feed. For lighter scrap streams, we also build super lightweight containers that maximize volume per haul. We have been in business 80+ years, whatever you can think of, we can do.

Serving New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut

Cooper Tank's Brooklyn headquarters puts us inside the NYC construction market. We deliver containers to all five boroughs and surrounding counties, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Our hook lift containers are available in custom floor lengths from 8 to 23 feet because NYC jobsites often require a different box geometry than a standard national spec -- a 20-yard on a 14-foot floor fits tighter than a 22-foot floor configuration.

Cooper Tank is a NYC-certified WBE (Woman-Owned Business Enterprise). That certification satisfies diversity spend requirements on New York City and New York State public works contracts, making Cooper Tank a compliant supplier for general contractors working on public projects.

For debris hauling logistics, our Brooklyn team can advise on container sizing relative to NYC DOT weight restrictions on specific routes, access requirements for tight urban sites, and the right container spec for your material type and haul frequency.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size roll-off container do I need for a construction site?

The most common sizes for construction debris are 20, 30, and 40 cubic yards. A 20-yard holds roughly 4 to 6 tons of mixed C&D debris; a 30-yard handles larger commercial pours and multi-trade cleanouts; a 40-yard is standard for full demolitions and roofing tear-offs. For concrete and masonry, use a 10 or 15-yard in heavy duty gauge -- dense material hits weight limits before volume limits.

Do I need a hook lift or cable roll-off for my jobsite?

Hook lift containers swap faster than cable -- the truck hooks the box and lifts it without driving forward. If your site has multiple containers that need to be swapped several times per day, hook lift is the faster operation. Cable roll-off is more common for large-volume containers (30 to 50 yard) and single-swap jobs. Hook lift trucks can run any container size in their range, which makes them more versatile for haulers with mixed routes.

What is a concrete washout container and do I need one?

A concrete washout container is a purpose-built steel roll-off bin that receives excess concrete, slurry, and cement truck washout water on active job sites. Under EPA Construction General Permit rules and most state stormwater programs, contractors must contain all concrete waste and prevent discharge to storm drains. A dedicated washout container is the simplest way to meet that requirement and survive a site inspection.

Do you serve New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut?

Yes. Cooper Tank manufactures in Brooklyn and serves the tri-state area: New York City and surrounding counties, New Jersey, and Connecticut. We also ship nationally for larger orders. Call (718) 497-4431 with your site location and we will confirm service and lead time.

Can I get containers for a demolition project?

Yes. Demolition projects require heavy duty containers that can handle impact from grapples and dense, irregular material. Cooper Tank offers heavy duty roll-off and hook lift containers built from 7 gauge steel with reinforced seams and hook bars. For contaminated soil or hazardous materials, the watertight container with hydrostatic testing is the right spec.

How do I request a quote for construction containers?

Call (718) 497-4431 or submit a quote request online. Tell us the material type, site location, container size range, and any site access constraints. Our production team will spec the right container and come back with lead time and pricing.
