What is the difference between a hook lift and a roll-off container?
A hook lift container has a hook bar at the front of the box that a truck-mounted arm engages to lift and set the container without the driver leaving the cab. A cable roll-off uses a winch cable and rear sheave rollers. Hook lifts swap faster in tight spaces, do not need the truck to drive forward during loading, and handle sloped and uneven sites better. Cable roll-offs are common in the 30 to 50 yard range and on high-volume single-swap routes. Most fleets run both.
